Personal Questions

  1. Describe your character’s personality – driven, paranoid, defensive

  2. Describe how your character would appear to a stranger (I.E. typical dress, way they carry themselves etc.) Other than wearing business casual clothes for work, Cait can be found wearing casual jeans and tshirts with clunky shoes

  3. What does your character like? Loves her iPhone and technology, coffee – all shapes and sizes, flavors and brews, reading/researching anything and everything

  4. Dislike? libraries – the internet has spoiled her, attention – prefers to slink down in her chair and read quietly, thin bitches – for obvious reasons

  5. (For humans) Describe what abilities you see your character having if they were turned or gifted.

turned – ethereal, bloodlust, empathy

gifted – gestalt, hopper, caretaker’s twinkle

  1. What are your fears?

drowning – having almost drowned at a young age not once, but twice, water has always made her nervous, but still genuinely loves the water. Being in it…not so much.

rape – kung fu and rated R movies at a young age put this almost uncontrollable fear in her, making any attention given to her nervous and she questions it immediately. She can even tell you which two movies it was that scared her so badly. “The Guardian” and some Bruce Lee movie (come on, they’re all the same really) Cait’s never been raped, but the fear of being a single woman is not lost on her.

being humiliated/put on the spot – attention on her makes her extremely uncomfortable. She cannot fathom a reason why she would stand out in a social situation – work related she excels, albeit quietly. Public speaking is tolerable at work, but she could never perform in front of an audience.

  1. What is your character’s strengths and weaknesses?

strengths –

  1. detailed researcher – from unnecessary knowledge to microbiology, Cait excels in gathering information

  2. fast learner – she is a hands on learner, but she learns quick and ironically has no problem in showing her instructor what she can do or what she has learned. The less of a social situation it is, the better.

  3. Microbial genetics and genetic engineering – This involves the study of the genotype of microbial species and also the expression system in the form of phenotypes. It also involves the study of genetic processes taking place in these micro organisms i.e., recombination etc.

weaknesses –

  1. interpersonal relationships, specifically with men – she’s horrible at relationships, to put it plainly. She is friendly and even charming, but awkward when it comes to a man she is genuinely attracted to

  2. intensely curious – with her research skills, Cait has let her curiosity get the better of her, unable to resist that unlocked door or file.

  3. paranoid – Curiosity killed the cat and with her inquisitiveness comes suspicion. Information has a way of putting a bulls-eye on your back, or so Cait thinks, and lives in constant fear of pursuit for the information she does have – valuable or not. Her paranoia makes her extremely suspicious of everything and everyone.

Hobbies & Skills

Nano, Exo, Evolutionary microbiology
quantum physics
running – works out almost daily
basic dirty fighting skills – enough to get her out of a scrape
computers – rudimentary hacking skills, but she knows a guy who knows a guy
basic knowledge of guns – disarming, small handguns

Cosmetic Traits

(Distinct, character defining physical attributes. These should be minor and offer no real power other than to make your character appear more interesting.)
wears contacts/glasses

Quirks and Habits worthy of mention

fidgets with hair, twisting the end of her ponytail or pulling it across her top lip like a mustache because she thinks it’s funny, if only to her – does that unconsciously

slightly OCD – constantly applying pressure to her fingernails and very minor trichotillomania (Cait pulls at her hair but does not pull it out – feels the coarseness of it)

avoids direct eye contact – will look at anywhere else on the face (ie chin, mouth, neck even) but looking someone in the eye is unnerving for her

extremely polite

Personal History

Caitlinn Conrad is on the run.

This wasn’t supposed to go down like this. Her job had been fairly simple, if not something worthy of a low-level mole, and that’s exactly what she was – a lie behind a mask. But of course shit was not going down like that. Somehow it always did.

Cait forced herself to walk slowly back to her office from lunch. Down in the DI plaza she felt eyes on her. Was it her paranoia? Maybe, but sometimes you just know when someone is looking at you and she caught the man’s eyes not once, but four times on her. Let’s face it, Cait was plain – there would be no reason for him to be looking at her that intently. Paranoia may be annoying, but it often kept her safe.

Using her ID badge to move through DI’s sub levels, she stepped out of the elevator to the fourth level and passed through the R&D section. Her job was simple – gather as much information out of the research and development section of Duibne Industries and report back to its highest competitor – an international corporation bent on taking down DI if it could not absorb it, and it had tried immediately after the Halloween event that allegedly originated, but the Corporation had no proof – DI had seen to that. DI had secrets and it was Cait’s job to get them.

Duibne Industries was run by vampires. Yeah, yeah – old news.

DI worked in blood replication, advancing technology to further enable the vampires to filter into the human race undetected. Again – the higher ups already knew this.

DI inadvertently discovered humans can develop vampire abilities through the combination of the underground and illicit drug created from vampire blood – Eternity, and Nova Piestewa’s drug therapy for Eternity’s horrific side effects to humans – Starburst. A human, if taking enough of the two drugs together, had the capability to assimilate whatever abilities were infused in the blood used to create the Eternity.

Well, see – NO ONE knew that. Cait just happened on that information one day while dumpster diving, as she put it, in old data from Nova Piestewa’s earlier experiments and one Kyle Evans. Evans was patient zero – he was the only patient and the more his alcohol wasted body became infused with Starburst and maintained a ridiculous Eternity habit, the more he exhibited curious side effects – results he hadn’t even noticed. And Cait made the mistake of notifying her contact in the city. Then he died – and everyone connected to her within Nachton died, with a message for her to ‘come in’.

Oh fuck that, Cait thought. Paranoia or not – they WERE out to get her and she was going to make herself scarce. Fuck the implications of the drug, fuck its value on the black market (Cait was not greedy nor was she stupid), and fuck the Corporation.

Once she made it to her office, she went directly to her desk and reached underneath it, pulling a panel small enough to hold one pinky sized thumb drive. Grabbing it, she immediately put it in her mouth and swallowed. She figured she had at least one hour before her body tried to digest the damn thing and hopefully by then she’ll be on a chartered plane out of the city and hopefully out of the country.

Taking a deep breath, Cait took off her lab coat, hung it on the back of her chair, and got the fuck out of there with little fan fare, no gun fire, and enough information to control the world. A rather unladylike burp reminded her of this as she disappeared into the wind.
