Vigo was gifted by his father, Danil Hammerthynn, at the age of 10. Like all Hammerthynns, his left eye was ceremoniously ripped out moments after his father gave him the gifting bite.

Personal Questions

  1. Describe your character’s personality

All Hammerthynns are quiet, indifferent, unemotional, and fierce. Their position in life after gifting is to protect the Alpha and pack. Vigo comes across as apathetic and cruel in his indifference in public, except to his best friend, Duncan Jameson and his adopted daughter, Vivienne Sena.

  1. Describe how your character would appear to a stranger (I.E. typical dress, way they carry themselves etc.)

Vigo wears comfortable khakis which are always clean with creases sharp enough to cut. He prefers his gray wool military trench coat. His missing eye lends to his incredibly intimidating presence and is often given a wide berth. There is an edge to everything about him – his broad shoulders, piercing gray eye, the cut of his clothes to the scars on his hands.

3.What does your character like?

Reading military non-fiction
Running
Dark beer
Racing cars

  1. Dislike?

insubordination
weak willed individuals
21st century fashion
ill mannered individuals

  1. (For humans) Describe what abilities you see your character having if they were turned.

  2. What are your fears? (please choose and explain 3 minimum)

Dying without being able to see his only son be more than his father – Vigo would do anything for Hammer not to grow old and alone like himself. He cherishes his friendship with Duncan Jameson and both men made sure to instill the same kind of partnership between their sons. Vigo could not be there as a true father to Hammer, so he would do anything to ensure that Hammer had Brig as his rock. The revelation of Hammer’s patronage of the Pack’s Alpha caused a riff between Hammer and Brig that both he and Duncan feared would break their sons. In letting Vivienne go to Nachton to fix the situation, someone he relied on emotionally for stability, Vigo sacrificed a part of himself for his only son.

Vivienne hating him for having her family killed – Vigo spared then 10 year old Vivienne Sena from death when Vigo and his Pipers claimed blood retribution on her Vyusher R’asa family. He has cared for her, albeit privately, and provided an exceptional education as well as family combat training, all the while asking for her forgiveness daily. She is as much a daughter to him as Hammer is a son.

Loss of humanity – Vivienne was Vigo’s only attempt at humanity, ignoring the family’s private disdain for his adopted daughter, Vigo has tried to be the man he had always wanted to be. After the death of his wife, he pulled away emotionally from his only son, and upon finding Vivienne and her family and exacting their revenge, Vigo made one final attempt to hold onto the soul he so rarely acknowledged, had his wife not died.

  1. What is your character’s strengths and weaknesses? (please pick 3 minimum of each and explain in detail how and why this affects your character)

Strengths:

Decisiveness – Vigo is resolute in his decisions. One of the 23 traits of leadership that Vigo shares with Duncan, making them a cohesive team in leading the Pipers. Vigo is able to make quick decisions without any doubt to a successful conclusion. He can make the hard choices without blinking an eye.

Courageous – Vigo is able to face danger or bodily harm without flinching. He will put himself in harms way to protect the Alpha and leadership and has done so in the past. There is no retreat, there is no fear, and this drives Vigo beyond what most men fear without batting his lone eye.

Commitment – Both to Piper missions and protecting the Alpha and his leadership, Vigo will not stray or be distracted. His commitment is unwavering and solid.

Weaknesses:

Cruel and unemotional – Vigo’s outward disdain for any type of compassion or understanding and focused determination makes his actions appear unemotional and his words often cruel and unfeeling. He is logical in his decisions and shows little reaction to camaraderie, save with Vivienne or Duncan. His brother-in-law is the cohesive glue that keeps the Piper’s spirits high, but it is Vigo’s cruelty that keeps them efficient.

Vivienne – the love for his daughter is almost crippling. He asks for Vivienne’s forgiveness almost daily when she is near, when away, it consumes him if he has not talked to her. This debilitating need to have Vivienne forgive him is a burden that drives him as well as suffocates him.

Smoking – if it were not for his werewolf regeneration, Vigo sure would have died of lung cancer. It is a three pack a day habit that he has been trying to break for decades, but the cigarettes serve as a operational tool, keeping his mind focused and resolute.

Personal History 3rd person (1st is acceptable) but please be as detailed as possible, this can/will affect your rp with other players.

Vigo was thirty two years old when he met Emma Jameson.

“Are you listening?”

Vigo looked at his best friend, Duncan Jameson, and shrugged noncommittally. “Yes.”

“No you’re not. She’s going to be here soon. You ready for this?”

Vigo had not seen his betrothed bride since she was five. Tradition in the late 1800’s had been waning in the past several decades, but Vigo had agreed to marry a Jameson female as the oldest Hammerthynn son. It had been two generations, what with the Hammerthynns being only males, but Danil, his father, insisted on the arranged marriage to keep the family lines pure. Vigo knew that both families had innate abilities that made Pipers the strong protectors that they were, but he hadn’t seen Emma since she was five years old and he was in his teens. She’d be a young woman now, but marrying in his thirties wasn’t what he had planned on doing as a Piper. But then Hammerthynns didn’t marry for love.

“Yes, I’m ready. Let’s just…be done with this,” Vigo said, letting a long breath out.

They were waiting at the western port on the island of Ostrov Kotel’nyy, an uninhabited floating wasteland in between the Laptev and East Siberian Seas met. It was home to the Kadzait Pipers lead by Danil Hammerthynn and Brian Jameson, Vigo and Duncan’s fathers. Secluded and remote, it was the perfect training grounds for the Pipers and their broods to exist in the harsh northern hemisphere.

They watched the ship or rather meager boat, sail into the man made built harbor and passengers disembark. The cold chill of winter was in full force, forcing the small group of travelers to rush inside the harbor shack. Vigo and Duncan stood stoically, unaffected by the cold.

“She was supposed to be on this boat,” Duncan said, looking for his youngest sister. “I’ll be right back.”

Vigo watched his friend go inside the shack to inquire about the ship’s passenger list. The cold air was arid and freezing – he loved the feel of it biting his skin and he closed his one good eye and inhaled deeply, taking in the ship’s rotting wood and fish mongers along the pier. Suddenly he caught the faintest aroma of lavender and crisp mountain air. He turned, looking for the arousing scent and saw her.

Emma Jameson had rich auburn hair and deep blue eyes like her brother. Standing at maybe shoulder height to Vigo’s six foot five stature, she was lithe yet had enough hips to grip. Vigo felt himself blush at the thought of her warm body.

“Vigo Hammerthynn?” she said, as her scent engulfed him. Vigo stared at her, inhaling deeply, and taking in her scent, letting it color him. “Do you remember me? I’m Emma? Your…bride?” Then she smiled at him, her blue eyes widening and a soft pink blush rising up her neck to her face, despite the cold.

“Emma. Yes,’ was all Vigo could manage. She called herself his bride. His brain tried to wrap around the thought of this woman being his wife. It was customary for them to wait at least a year to get to know each other.

They were married within a month.

Vigo buried her twelve years later.

Iov was eleven years old and had been gifted less than a year, but he stood next to his father with every bit of stoic, silent pain as the old man. Vigo was proud of him, suffering silently through the pain of his mother’s death without having to be told, but then Vigo led by example and had stopped being the nurturing type when his own father beat it out of him. They stood there, together on the hill overlooking a valley on the edge of the Glenveagh, Ireland. Emma loved bringing both him and Iov there in the spring.

Vigo closed his one eye and let the chilled rain wash over him, reminding him of when he first met Emma. He felt the blush of her scent engulf him, the touch of her small hands, and the taste of her silky skin. He swallowed, pushing the anguish he was feeling inside. It gathered strength in his gut, rising up into his throat and threatened to choke the life out of him. When she died, he wanted to die with her, but there was Iov to think about…their son, their only son. It was all he had left of Emma.

Without looking at his son, he put his large hand on top of Iov’s healed bite mark from his gifting and turned his son away from his mother’s grave.

“Come, boy,” was all he said to comfort Iov. The young man trailed behind Vigo, looking back at his mother’s grave. “Hammer!” he yelled not looking back. Iov ran up to his father’s side and walked away with him.

Vigo wanted to put his arm around his son, to comfort him and to have Iov return it, but that wasn’t what Hammerthynns were made for. They did not comfort. They did not grieve. They did nothing for themselves and always for the Pack. The further he walked away from Emma’s grave, the more his heart twisted into the bitter black rock he felt it was.

And when he stood in front of his forty year old son and his other brothers and nephews that November day in 1954, Vigo put his hand on the little girl he found and used his authority as Commander of the Pipers to spare her life. She was the age Hammer was when Emma died, when he lost that bit of humanity his only son could have benefited from. Vivienne would be a tool to keep a promise to his wife, to watch over their son, and if Vigo couldn’t tell him how much he loved Hammer, he’d do his best to show him when their son needed it.

Neither Vigo nor Hammer have been back to visit Emma’s grave. Or to see the lavender valley her grave overlooks in the spring.

In 2010 Vigo Hammerthynn, upon learning the Pack’s Alpha was his grandson and the turmoil between Hammer and his nephew Brig Jameson was boiling to a point where the damage could not be undone, Vigo sent his adopted daughter Vivienne Sena to Nachton, USA. Within three months of her arrival there, Vigo and Duncan Jameson will be bringing the replacing two Pipers to join her and his son at the Kadzait property.
